Marmoleum Flooring

 I decided a while back to install wood flooring in the kitchen, and that idea expanded to the rest of the house. Then that changed from wood to marmoleum which is a new-school linoleum. Whatever solid flooring I put it, however, I discovered that my existing floor wasn't really up to snuff. With 24" centered rafters and 3/4" plywood subfloor, I didn't have a solid enough structure for wood or any kind of plank flooring. After some measuring, I decided adding an additional layer of 1/2" OSB was the best I could do without raising the floor too much to existing doors and flooring in the bathrooms and bedrooms. I glued and screwed all the OSB down perpendicular to the existing 4x8 plywood with 1 1/4" screws, making sure not to screw into the rafters and only the plywood as recommended.

Shortly after all the living room and hallway was supplemented with OSB, the marmoleum arrived and I got to installing that. The entryway color came in 1' cubes and the rest in 1' x 3' planks. It took some time to figure out the best way to lay them down so they connected how I wanted them.

Studio is all done

 The studio was officially finished just after Halloween. I think I initially promised October, but it took a month longer. The furniture turned out to be very time consuming... plus the mini-split diy failure set me back some time as well.

Here are some photos of the last add-on to the inside of the studio - the adjustable canvas/painting wall. I used 3/4" pipe and pipe clamps to fashion a way to hold multiple pieces of artwork to work on. The horizontal pipe is the support, and the vertical pipes slide back and forth to accommodate varying sizes of artwork.

Need some more clamps for the third vertical support.
